The soil of Uttar Pradesh

  • The soil in the Bhabar -Terai area is majorly made up of pebbles and thick sand particles.
  • In Uttar Pradesh alluvial soil is most widespread.
  • The alluvial soil constitutes mud and sand particles and is one of the most fertile soils in the country. 
  • Alluvial soil is rich in potash and lime.
  • Sandy Desert soil is also found in UP, but it is mostly confined to the Western districts of Uttar Pradesh which border Rajasthan and MP.
  • Lal, Parva, Mar, Rakar, and Bhonta, etc. soils are found in the Bundelkhand area.
  • The percentage of the wetland area is, in terms of the total area of the state: 5.15%·
  • District with the largest Wetland area in UP: Sonabhadra.
  • Districts with least wetland area in UP: Baghpat and Hathras

Agriculture and Animal Husbandry in Uttar Pradesh

Rivers in Uttar Pradesh

  • Major rivers in UP are: Ganga, Yamuna, Ramganga, Gomti and Ghaghara.
  • Most polluted river of UP is the Yamuna.
  • The highest concentration of pollutants in the river Ganga is from Kannauj to Varanasi.
  • Highest BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) in the river Ganga is in Kanpur to Allahabad stretch.

  • Length of river Ganga in Uttar Pradesh is about 900 km.
  • The entry and exit of river Ganga in UP is Bijnor and Ballia districts respectively.

  • Ramganga Joins Ganga near Fatehgarh.

  • The entry and exit point of Gandak river in the state of UP lie in the districts Maharajganj and Kushinagar, respectively.
  • Gandak river is also known as Shaligrami and Narayani in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Sharada (Kali) river enters UP through Pilibhit district.

  • उ.प्र. में गंगा की लम्बाई: लगभग 900 किमी

  • प्रदेश की सबसे लम्बी नदी गंगा है जो 28 जिलों से होकर बहती है |

  • उत्तर प्रदेश में यमुना के तट पर बसने वाले प्रमुख नगर है: इलाहाबाद,  कौशाम्बी, हमीरपुर, इटावा, काल्पी बटेश्वर, आगरा, मथुरा, वृन्दावन, बागपत आदि 10 नगर हैं: 
  • यमुना19 जिलों से होकर बहती है|
  • यमुना नदी का प्रवेश व समापन क्रमशः सहारनपुर व इलाहाबाद में होता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में गोमती नदी के तट पर बसने वाले नगर जौनपुरसुल्तानपुरलखनऊ आदि हैं 
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में सरयू नदी के तट पर बसने वाले नगर तट पर अयोध्या, गोला, बरहलगंज, बरहज आदि हैं :
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में राप्ती नदी के तट पर बसने वाले नगर गोरखपुर, बरहज आदि है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में गंडक नदी का प्रवेश व निकास क्रमशःमहाराजगंज व कुशीनगर जिलों में होता है
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में गंडक नदी को शालीग्रामी व नारायणी नाम से जाना जाता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में शारदा (काली) नदी का प्रवेश पीलीभीत जिले से होता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में शारदा नदी सरयू (घाघरा) में सीतापुर में बासरा के पास मिलती है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में सिंध नदी का प्रवेश व यमुना में मिलन क्रमशः औरैया व जालौन बार्डर पर होता है
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में हिन्डन नदी यमुना में नोएडा के पास मिलती है |
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में चम्बल नदी का प्रवेश आगरा जिले से होता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में चम्बल नदी यमुना में मुरादगंज (औरैया) के पास मिलती है :

  • उत्तर प्रदेश में बेतवा यमुना में हमीरपुर के पास मिलती है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में केन नदी का प्रवेश बांदा जिले से होता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में उत्तर प्रदेश में केन यमुना में भोजहा (बांदा) के पास मिलती है:
  • टौंस नदी का प्रवेश व गंगा में मिलन इलाहाबाद में होता है|
  • उत्तर प्रदेश में सेन नदी का प्रवेश व निकास सोनभद्र जिले में होता है
