After a series of high level meetings, the 1st BRIC summit was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia on 16 June 2009. BRIC group was renamed as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) after South Africa was accepted as a full member at the BRIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting in New York in September 2010.

“BRICS” is the acronym denoting the emerging national economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The term was originally coined in 2001 as “BRIC” by the Goldman Sachs economist Jim O’Neill in his report, Building Better Global Economic BRICs. Fast-growing economies that would collectively dominate the global economy by 2050.

The 13th BRICS summit was held on 09 September 2021 under the chairmanship of India. Prior to this, India has also hosted the BRICS summit in 2012 and 2016.
13वां ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन 09 सितंबर 2021 को भारत की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित किया गया था। इससे पहले भारत 2012 और 2016 में भी ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन की मेजबानी कर चुका है।
The next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State will be held in 2024 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
