K-9 Vajra of Indian army

In response to a new Chinese build-up under the PLA’s Xinjiang Military Command, the Indian Army has reportedly deployed artillery weapons near the Ladakh border, including K9 Vajra (K9 Thunder) self-propelled howitzers. According to media sources, the PLA’s Xinjiang Military Command recently received a slew of modern artillery weapons, including the PCL-181, PCL-161, and PHL-03 MLRS.

National Disaster Response Force Academy

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal to create one (01) Director in Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) position at the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Academy in Nagpur. With the introduction of the job of Director, NDRF Academy, the organization’s command and control will be entrusted to a senior and experienced officer who can guide the institution toward its goals.

The CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) is observing its CISF 52nd Raising Day today, i.e., 10th March 2021. It is the day when CISF, one of six paramilitary forces in the country, was set up under the Union ministry of home affairs in the year 1969.

Yudh Abhyas 2021

Recently, the 16th edition of ‘Yudh Abhyas’, India and US joint military exercise has completed in Rajasthan which was held from 8th February to 21st February 2021. The drill has come days after the air forces of India and France held a five-day joint exercise held in Rajasthan in Jan. 2021.

DSA is also looking for technologies that can safeguard the nation’s assets from any threat in and from outer space.

Defence-Update: India-China Disengagement

On 20th February, the tenth round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting was held on the Chinese side of the Chushul or Moldo border meeting point. Both sides positively appraised the smooth conclusion of disengagement of frontline troops in the Pangong Lake area noting that it was an important step forward that provided a good basis for resolution of the other remaining issues along the LAC in the Western Sector as per the Ministry of Defence’s statement.

Defence Update: Theatre Commands

Now there is more clarity to the role of Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) as it is setting up two new joint commands — Air Defense Command and Maritime Theater Command by May of 2021. The commanders-in-chief of these commands will report to the CDS.
