The explosion in Sangay Volcano

Recently, a severe Explosion in Sangay Volcano has occurred in the Sangay volcano of Ecuador. The eruption caused volcanic rock and smoke in the sky for about 8 kilometers. Along with this, the movement has also increased in the world’s largest volcanic Mauna Loa located in the Hawaiian Islands. This volcano has slowly started to blaze and scientists have feared that there may be a huge eruption in this volcano at any time.

• Sangay volcano is an active volcano located in Ecuador.

• This volcano was formed as a result of the convergence of the Najka Plate and the South American Plate.

About Mauna Loa Volcano

• Mauna Loa is the largest Shield Volcano in the world.
• Mauna Loa Volcano is located on the island of Hawaii and is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
• It is noteworthy that the island of Hawaii is located in the Pacific Ocean.

What is the volcano? 

• A volcano is a crack or mouth on the earth’s surface (crust) that brings out hot lava, gas, ash, etc. within the earth.
• The molten material inside the Earth’s surface is called magma, and when this magma comes out of the earth, it is called lava. At the time of the volcanic eruption, this magma comes out of the earth and with its huge amount of water vapour, ash and various types of gases etc. come out.
• Volcanic eruptions cause widespread loss of wealth on a large scale. Many such incidents occurred in history when entire cities got engulfed in the eras of time due to volcanic eruptions. For example, two of Italy’s most famous cities, Pampiai and Herculaneum, were ruined by volcanic eruptions.
• However, volcanic eruptions are also beneficial in many ways. This not only creates new structures such as crater lake, laccolith, faecolith etc. but also sources of black soil including many minerals are volcanic lava.

Types of volcanoes: 

There are three types of volcanoes- 

1. Active volcanoes
2. Latent volcanoes
3. Dead volcanoes

1. Active volcanoes- Those volcanoes are called on which erupt from time to time. Some of the active volcanoes in the world include Mauna Loa of the Hawaiian Islands, Etna, and Stromboli of Sicily, Vesuvius of Italy, Cotopaxi of Ecuador, Baron Island Volcano of Andaman and Nicobar and Taal Volcano of the Philippines, etc.
2. Latent Volcanoes – Those volcanoes that have been lying down for years, but there is a possibility of a volcanic eruption anytime. The dormant volcanoes of the world include Vesuvius of Italy, Fujiyama of Japan, Krakatoa and Indonesia of Indonesia, and Narcondam volcano of Andaman and Nicobar, etc.
3. Dead volcanoes – Such volcanoes are said to be quieter than many Yugos and they have stopped erupting. Some of the dead volcanoes in the world include Popa of Myanmar, Kilimanjaro of Africa, Chimbarajo in South America, Monaco of the Hawaiian Islands, Koh Sultan of Iran, etc.

सेंगे ज्वालामुखी में भीषण विस्फोट

हाल ही में इक्वाडोर के सेंगे ज्वालामुखी में काफी भयंकर विस्फोट हुआ है। इस विस्फोट से आसमान में लगभग 8 किलोमीटर तक ज्वालामुखी राख़ व धुआँ छा गया। इसके साथ ही हवाई द्वीप समूह में स्थित दुनिया के सबसे विशाल ज्‍वालामुखी मौना लोआ (Mauna Loa) में भी हलचल काफी बढ़ गयी है। इस ज्वालामुखी ने धीरे-धीरे धधकना शुरू कर दिया है और वैज्ञानिकों ने आशंका जताई है कि कभी भी इस ज्वालामुखी में भयंकर विस्फोट हो सकता है।

सेंगे ज्वालामुखी के बारे में

• सेंगे ज्वालामुखी इक्वाडोर में स्थित एक सक्रिय ज्वालामुखी है।
• यहाँ सेंगे नेशनल पार्क भी अवस्थित है।
• इस ज्वालामुखी का निर्माण नाज्का प्लेट और दक्षिण अमेरिकी प्लेट के अभिसरण के फलस्वरूप हुआ है।

मौना लोआ ज्वालामुखी के बारे में

• मौना लोआ दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा शील्ड ज्वालामुखी  है।
• मौना लोआ ज्वालामुखी हवाई द्वीप में अवस्थित है और यह दुनिया के सबसे सक्रिय ज्वालामुखियों में से एक है।
• उल्लेखनीय है कि हवाई द्वीप प्रशांत महासागर में स्थित है।

जानिये ज्वालामुखी के बारे में

• ज्वालामुखी पृथ्वी की सतह(भूपटल) पर उपस्थित ऐसी दरार या मुख होता है जिससे पृथ्वी के भीतर का गर्म लावा, गैस, राख आदि बाहर आते हैं।
• पृथ्वी के सतह के अंदर पिघले हुए पदार्थ को मैग्मा कहते हैं वही जब यह मैग्मा पृथ्वी से बाहर आता है तो इसे लावा कहा जाता है। ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट के समय पृथ्वी से यही मैग्मा बाहर निकलता है एवं इसके साथ भारी मात्रा में जलवाष्प, राख एवं विभिन्न प्रकार के गैस इत्यादि बाहर निकलते हैं।
• ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट से व्यापक पैमाने पर धन-जन की व्यापक हानि होती है। इतिहास में कई ऐसी घटनाएं घटी जब पूरे के पूरे शहर ज्वालामुखी से होने वाले विस्फोट के कारण काल के ग्रास में समा गए। उदाहरण के लिए इटली के दो प्रसिद्ध शहर पम्पियाई और हरक्युलैनियम ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट से बर्बाद हो गए।
• हालांकि ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट कई तरीके से लाभकारी भी होते है। इससे ना केवल नवीन संरचनाओं का निर्माण होता है जैसे की क्रेटर झील, लैकोलिथ, फैकोलिथ इत्यादि बल्कि कई खनिजों समेत काली मिट्टी के स्रोत भी ज्वालामुखी के लावा होते हैं।

कितने होते है ज्वालामुखी के प्रकार?

ज्वालामुखी तीन प्रकार होते हैं-

1. सक्रिय ज्वालामुखी
2. सुषुप्त ज्वालामुखी
3. मृत ज्वालामुखी

1. सक्रिय ज्वालामुखी- उन ज्वालामुखीयों को कहा जाता है जिन पर समय- समय पर विस्फोट होता रहता है। संसार के कुछ सक्रिय ज्वालामुखी में हवाई द्वीप का मौना लोआ, सिसली का एटना और स्ट्राम्बोली, इटली का विसुवियस , इक्वेडोर का कोटोपैक्सी, अंडमान और निकोबार का बैरन द्वीप ज्वालामुखी एवं फिलीपींस का ताल ज्वालामुखी इत्यादि शामिल है।
2. सुषुप्त ज्वालामुखी- उन ज्वालामुखीयों को कहा जाता है जो वर्षों से शांत पड़े होते हैं लेकिन उनमें कभी भी ज्वालामुखी विस्फोट होने की संभावना बनी रहती है। संसार के निष्क्रिय ज्वालामुखीयों में इटली का विसूवियस, जापान का फ्यूजीयामा, इंडोनेशिया का क्राकाटोआ एवं अंडमान और निकोबार का नारकोंडम ज्वालामुखी इत्यादि शामिल है।
3. मृत ज्वालामुखी- ऐसे ज्वालामुखीयों को कहा जाता है जो कई युगो से शांत है एवं उनमें विस्फोट होना बंद हो गया है। संसार की कुछ मृत ज्वालामुखीयों में म्यांमार का पोपा, अफ्रीका का किलिमंजारो, दक्षिण अमेरिका का चिम्बराजो, हवाई द्वीप का मोंनाको, ईरान का कोह सुल्तान इत्यादि शामिल है।
