Not only within India but also abroad, handicrafts of Rajasthan is famous for its work like Paintings, Blue Pottery, Stone Carvings, Wood and Sandal Wood Work, Carpets, Metal Work, Leathercraft, Lac work, Weaving etc

  1. Kota Doriya
  • This Saree is also called Mansuriya.
  • In 1761, Zala Zalimsingh of Kota called a weaver from Mysore named Mahmud Mansuriya. Thus this saree is named after him.
  • Kaithoon village of Kota is famous for Mansuriya.
  • Sarees are made of pure cotton and silk having square like the pattern on it.
  1. Zari Work
  • Zari is a thread made of golden and silver which is woven into fabrics. But nowadays these threads are not real.
  • This tradition mainly flourished during the Mughal period.
  • Jaipur is famous for Zari work.
  1. Tie and Dye
  • Bandhej or Bandhani of Jaipur is famous.
  • Bandhej is first tied and then workers dye the clothes. Thus when clothes are opened it has a painted design. Thus it is called Tie and Dye.
  • Jhajham of Chittor is famous.
  1. Dabu Print
  • Akola village of Chittorgarh is famous for Dabu printing.
  • The portion where colour is not required is pressed with Loi or Lugadi. This Loi or Lugadi is called Dabu.
  • These include Bedsheets, Clothes, Chundari, etc.

5. Ustan Art

  • Golden Meenakari work did on the leather of Camel is called Ustan Art.
  • This art was developed by Padma Shree Hissamudan Ustan of Bikaner.
  • This art is done on Bottles, Mirror, Boxes, etc.

6. Meenakari Art

  • Jaipur is famous worldwide for Meenakari.
  • Meenakari art was brought by Maharaj Maansingh from Lahore.
  • Black, Blue, Yellow, Red, Orange and Pink colours are used on gold for traditional Meenakari.
  • Nathdwara is also a famous centre of Meenakari.

7. Lac Work

  • Sawai Madhopur, Sikar and Bundi are famous for lac work on wooden toys.
  • Jaipur, Hindaun and Karauli are famous for Lac work on bangles.
  • Jaipur and Jodhpur are famous for Lac work.

8. Blue Pottery

  • The credit of starting Blue Pottery in Jaipur goes to Maharaja Ramsingh.
  • Paintings are done on pots and then a special liquid is applied to make that pot more shining and attractive.
  • Blue pottery is an Iranian Art.
  • Jaipur, Kota and Alwar are famous for this art.

9. Thewa Art

  • Minute painting on glass using gold is Thewa Art.
  • Coloured Belgium glass is used for Thewa art.
  • Thewa Art needs very specialized and artistic work on glass using gold. Mainly done on Jewelry.
  • This art is limited up to Pratapgarh.
  • Jaipur is a famous centre for this art.

10. Leather Work

  • Jaipur and Jodhpur are famous for Mojadi (Type of Shoe) decorated with starts and embroidery.
  • Bhinmal and Jalaur are famous for embroidery Juttiya (Shoes).

11. Terracotta Work

  • Sculptures and toys, etc made of baked earth are called terracotta.
  • Molela village of Nathdwara district is the main centre of Terracotta work.
  • Banuravta village of Nagaur is famous for clay toys, flower pot, animal and birds’ clay toy.

12. Sculpture Art

  • Development of Sculpture art began during the period of the Maurya Dynasty.
  • Dungarpur and Talwada’s Sompura tribe is famous for making stone sculptures.

13. Marble (Sangmarmar)

  • Jaipur is famous for Marble stone sculptures.
  • Meenakari on Marble is done in Jaipur.
  • Makrana is the main centre of Marble.

14. Ivory work

  • Ivory work is mainly done in Jaipur, Udaipur, Bharatpur, Pali and Medata.
  • Black, Green and Red bangles made of ivory are made in Jodhpur.
  • Ivory Bangles are worn by Rajput women during the marriage.

15. Mat and Carpet work

  • Jaipur and Tonk are famous for Mat industry.
  • The mat of Jaipur is famous for its Dark colour and attractive design.
  • Tankla village of Nagaur is famous for Carpet.

(Handicrafts of Rajasthan)

राजस्थानी हस्तकला जैसे :- प्रिंट, रंगाई, छपाई, चित्रण, मूर्ति बनांने की कला, लकड़ी के खिलोने बंनाने की कला, टेराकोटा कला, मोजड़ी कला, कावड़ कला, और थेवा कल्ला।

  1. कोटा डोरिया
  • इन साड़ियों को मनसूरिया भी कहा जाता है।
  • 1761 ईस्वीं में, कोटा के जाला जालिमसिंह ने मैसूर से महमूद मनसूरिया नाम के बुनकर को बुलाया था।
  • कोटा का कैथून गांव मनसूरिया के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • साड़ियां शुद्ध ऊन और रेशम की बनी होती है जिसमें वर्गाकार पैटर्न बना होता है।
  1. जरी का काम
  • जरी सोने और चांदी से बना धागा होता है जिससे कपड़े को बुना जाता है। लेकिन आजकल ये धागे असली नहीं है।
  • ये परंपरा मुख्यतः मुगल काल के दौरान विकसित हुई थी।
  • जयपुर जरी के काम के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  1. बंधेज
  • जयपुर की बंधेज या बंधनी प्रसिद्ध है।
  • पहले कपड़े को बांधा जाता है, और फिर कपड़े को रंगा जाता है। फिर जब कपड़े को खोलते हैं तो उस पर पैटर्न बंधे होते हैं। इसलिए इसे बंधेज कहते हैं।
  1. दाबू प्रिंट
  • चित्तौढ़गढ़ का अकोला गांव दाबू चित्रकारी के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • वह भाग जहां रंग की आवश्यकता नहीं है उसे लोई अथवा लुगदी से दबाया जाता है। इस लोई अथवा लुगदी को दाबू कहा जाता है।
  • इसमें बेडशीट, कपड़े, चुंदरी इत्यादि शामिल हैं।

5. उस्तान कला

  • ऊंट की खाल पर सोने की मीनाकारी को उस्तान कला कहते हैं।
  • इस कला का विकास बीकानेर के पद्म श्री हिसामुदन उस्तान ने किया था।
  • यह कला बोतलों, सीसे, डब्बों पर की जाती है।

6. मीनाकारी

  • जयपुर विश्वभर में मीनाकारी के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • मीनाकारी कला महाराज मानसिंह द्वारा लाहौर से लाई गई थी।
  • पारंपरिक मीनाकारी में काले, नीले, पीले, लाल, नारंगी और गुलाबी रंगों का प्रयोग किया जाता है।
  • नथवाड़ा भी मीनाकारी का एक प्रसिद्ध केन्द्र है।

7. लाख कार्य

  • सवाई माधोपुर, सीकर और बूंदी लकड़ी के खिलौने पर लाख के कार्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • जयपुर, हिंदौन और करौली कंगनों पर लाख के कार्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं।
  • जयपुर और जोधपुर लाख के कार्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

8. ब्लू पॉटरी (नीले बर्तन)

  • जयपुर में नीले बर्तन शुरु करने का श्रेय महाराजा रामसिंह को जाता है।
  • बर्तनों पर चित्रकारी की जाती हैं और फिर बर्तन पर एक खास तरह का द्रव लगाया जाता है जिससे वह अधिक चमकीला और आकर्षक दिखाई दे।
  • नीले बर्तन की कला ईरानी कला है।
  • जयपुर, कोटा और अलवर इस कला के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

9. थेवा कला

  • सोने का प्रयोग करके कांच पर सूक्ष्म चित्रकारी थेवा कला है।
  • थेवा कला में रंगीन बेल्जियम कांच का प्रयोग होता है।
  • थेवा कला में सोने का प्रयोग करके कांच पर एक विशेष कलाकारी की जाती है। जो मुख्यतः आभूषणों पर किया जाता है।
  • यह कला प्रतापगढ़ तक सीमित थी।
  • जयपुर इस कला का प्रसिद्ध केन्द्र है।

10. चमड़े का कार्य

  • जयपुर और जोधपुर धागों और कढ़ाई से सजी मोजदी के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • भीनमाल और जालौर कढ़ी हुई जूतियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

11. टेराकोटा

  • पकी मिट्टी से बनी मूर्तियों और खिलौनों को टेराकोटा कहा जाता है।
  • नाथवाड़ा जिले का मोलेला गांव टेराकोटा कार्य का मुख्य केन्द्र है।
  • नागपुर का बानुरवत गांव मिट्टी के खिलौने, फूलदान, जानवर और पक्षियों की मिट्टी से बनी मूर्तियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

12. मूर्ति कला

  • मूर्ति कला का विकास मौर्य वंश के दौरान हुआ था।
  • डुंगरपुर और तलवाड़ा की सोमपुरा जाति पत्थर की मूर्तियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

13. मार्बल (संगमरमर)

  • जयपुर संगमरमर से बनी मूर्तियों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • जयपुर में संगमरमर पर मीनाकारी की जाती है।
  • माकर्णा संगमरमर का मुख्य केन्द्र है।

14. हाथी दांत कार्य

  • हाथी दांत कार्य मुख्यतः जयपुर, भरतपुर, पाली और मेदाता में किया जाता है।
  • जोधपुर में हाथी दांत से काले, हरे और लाल कंगन बनाए जाते हैं।
  • विवाह के दौरान राजपूत महिलाएं हाथी दांत से बने कंगन पहनती हैं।

15. चटाई और कालीन कार्य

  • जयपुर और टोंक चटाई कार्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं।
  • जयपुर की चटाई अपने गहरे रंग और आकर्षक डिज़ाइन के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
  • नागपुर का टंकला गांव कालीन के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।
