Reasons the UAE acted as mediator

Experts point out that since 2011, the marked ‘Arab Spring,’ the UAE’s foreign policy has been “pro-Active” in the following areas:

  • It is strengthening its military power to defend the governance model by tolerance. It includes religious tolerance; 80% of UAE’s population are foreign workers. It is crucial as UAE wants to be one of the world’s best industrial and financial hubs in a “post-oil economy.”
  • It is safeguarding against the rising fundamentalism in the country.
  • Non-allowance of transnational, non-religious ideologies to take roots within the borders.
  • the promotion of “stability, development, and modernization’ to reflect on UAE’s overall strategic development in the region
  • Besides the USA, the UAE has “strategic partnership agreements” with China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and India.
  • On many occasions, UAE keeps its stand neutral and observed that good ties with the US should not be seen as unfriendly by China or any other nation.
  • UAE seeks global recognition as significant world power contributing towards global peace and stability. It has been participating in several international peacekeeping missions since the 1990s, and it has joined the international coalition forces in the region.

Overall, the UAE aims to be recognized as a responsible power playing global roles and aspires to be uniques in the Middle East region.
