Greenland, the world’s largest island, has an abundance of Discovery rare earth elements (Rare Earth Element -REE). Along with this, there are powerful super-strong magnets and are used in making electrical equipment such as wind turbines, electric vehicles, combat aircraft, and weapon systems.
Significantly, the rare earth elements are a group of 17 rare metal elements found in the upper surface of the earth (crust).

गौरतलब है कि दुर्लभ मृदा तत्त्व 17 दुर्लभ धातु तत्त्वों का समूह है जो पृथ्वी की ऊपरी सतह (क्रस्ट) में पाए जाते हैं।

- टोरंटो स्थित कंसल्टेंसी एडमस इंटेलिजेंस के अनुसार, दुर्लभ मृदा तत्वों के कई उपयोग हैं और पिछले साल चीन ने उनमें से लगभग 90% का उत्पादन किया। यू.एस.-चीन के तनाव के कारण राष्ट्रपति जो बिडेन के प्रशासन ने कहा कि अब अमेरिका की सेना नें दुर्लभ मृदा तत्त्वों के प्रसंस्करण की तकनीकी में निवेश की इच्छा जाहिर की है। इसके अतिरिक्त अमेरिका का प्रयास रहेगा कि है अन्य देश दुर्लभ मृदा तत्त्वों से संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के खिलाफ हथियार नहीं बना पाएँ।

- उत्तरी ध्रुव के बहुत पास स्थित यह द्वीप डैनमार्क का एक स्वायत्त प्रदेश हैं। क्षेत्रफल के मामले में ग्रीनलैंड दुनिया का 12वां सबसे बड़ा देश है और ब्रिटेन से 10 गुना ज़्यादा बड़ा है. इसके 20 लाख वर्ग किमी. में चट्टान और बर्फ़ हैं।
- ग्रीनलैंड का 85% भाग 1.9 मील मोटी (3 किमी) बर्फ की चादर से ढका है। इसमें दुनिया का 10% ताजा पानी है।
